Terms of Service

Welcome to ScrollCAT. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

ScrollCAT is an MCAT flashcard study application for iOS. The app provides spaced-repetition flashcards, topic maps, a study feed, challenge features, and progress tracking to help students prepare for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

The core study feed, basic topic browsing, and challenge features are free to use. ScrollCAT also offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Coached Mode, described in Section 10 below. We reserve the right to introduce additional paid features in the future; any such changes will be communicated in advance.

You must be at least 13 years old to use ScrollCAT. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement. ScrollCAT is designed for college-age students and adults preparing for the MCAT. If you are under 18, please ensure a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms.

ScrollCAT assigns every device an anonymous user ID automatically; no sign-up is required to use the core study features.

You may optionally upgrade to Sign in with Apple to link your account to your Apple ID. If you do, Apple shares your name and email address (or a private relay email, at your choice) with us at the time of first sign-in; we store this to identify your account and are not given access to your Apple ID credentials. You may revoke ScrollCAT's access at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Sign in with Apple on your device.

Optionally, you may also create a public profile with a username, display name, and avatar. By creating a profile, you agree that:

• Your username and display name are visible to other users in challenge and leaderboard features.
• You will not choose a username that is offensive, impersonates another person, or violates any third-party rights.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your friend code.

You may delete your profile and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Profile, or by contacting us at sgoldcreatives@gmail.com.

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract source code
• Abuse the challenge system or manipulate leaderboard rankings through automated means
• Harass, impersonate, or harm other users
• Transmit malware or interfere with the app's infrastructure

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these rules.

The ScrollCAT app, its design, and original content are owned by the developer and protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may use the app for personal, non-commercial study purposes only.

Chemical structure images are sourced from the PubChem database (National Library of Medicine), which provides data under a public domain license.

The content in ScrollCAT is designed for MCAT exam preparation only. It does not constitute medical, clinical, or professional advice. Never use app content to make medical decisions or diagnose conditions. Always consult a licensed medical professional for health-related questions.

ScrollCAT uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase: cloud database for syncing study progress. Subject to Supabase's Terms of Service.
• PubChem (NLM/NIH): chemical structure images for chemistry cards. Public domain data.

We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

ScrollCAT is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The app will be error-free or uninterrupted
• Card content is 100% accurate or up-to-date with the latest MCAT format
• Use of the app will result in a particular exam score

You use the app at your own risk. Always cross-reference with official MCAT preparation materials.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of ScrollCAT shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app, including but not limited to lost study data, exam outcomes, or interruptions of service.

ScrollCAT offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Coached Mode, which unlocks a personalized day-by-day study plan, the full topic browser, and additional Stats features for $4.99/month.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew for the same price and duration unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price shown at the time of renewal.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in the App Store. Subscription management and billing are handled entirely by Apple.
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Refunds are governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and are requested through Apple, not ScrollCAT.

The free tier of ScrollCAT remains fully available and is not affected by Coached Mode. You can stop using Coached Mode features at any time by canceling the subscription as described above; access continues until the end of the current billing period.

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes, we will notify users via an in-app notice.
